Costa del Sol and Costa de Almería: Places to Explore

Agua Amarga

Agua Amarga is perhaps the most pleasant village on the Cabo de Gata coast. Like other coastal hamlets, it started out in the 18th century as a tuna-fishing port. Today it has a boho-chic appeal that attracts more visitors, although it thankfully remains less developed than San José. One of the coast's best beaches is just to the north: the dramatically named Playa de los Muertos (Beach of the Dead), a long stretch of fine sand bookended with volcanic outcrops.
