Tucked in one of the many bends on the road up to Casares from Estepona, this reasonably priced restaurant is a favorite with local expats and tourists. The rustic interior, done with ocher tones and enhanced with a log fire, make for intimate and cozy meals, and the outside terrace and poolside tables are perfect for alfresco dining while you contemplate the panoramic vistas. Food comes in an eclectic fusion of Mediterranean, Japanese, and Thai cuisines. Try the chicken karaage (deep fried, Japanese-style) or the ruby fig salad with Roquefort cheese, Serrano ham and arugula for starters, then follow with five-spiced duck with pumpkin curry or a fillet of beef with porcini and truffle butter. Vegetarian options, such as a truffle-scented mushroom tart, are also available. The weekly three-course menu ($) is a particularly sound option. Reservations are a good idea in the summer and on weekends year-round.
