Museo del Queso y el Vino (Wine & Cheese Museum) Review

This small but wonderful museum on the history of local wine and cheese production is a short walk down from the Plaza Mayor, and the perfect stop before sampling the goods yourself in one of Trujillo's bars and restaurants. Exhibits explain different varieties of local cheese and Extremaduran wines; there's a tasting session at the end for an extra €0.50. This is also a good spot to buy gifts. The building is an old convent founded by yet another member of the Pizarro family, this time a daughter. The museum has extended hours during Trujillo's local cheese festival each year in late April or early May.
