Prat d'Aguiló

Prat d'Aguiló Review

One of the highest points in the Cerdanya that you can access without either a four-wheel-drive vehicle or a hike, the majestic Prat d'Aguiló, or Eagle's Meadow, is 20 km (12 miles) south of Martinet. The winding, bumpy drive up the mountain takes about an hour and a half (start with a full tank) and opens onto some excellent vistas of its own. From the meadow, the roughly three-hour climb to the top of the sheer rock wall of the Sierra del Cadí, directly above, reaches an altitude of nearly 8,000 feet. To get here from Martinet, take a dirt road that is rough but, barring new washouts, navigable by the average car. Follow signs for "Refugio Prat d'Aguiló."
