Dalarna: The Folklore District: Places to Explore

Tällberg

Tällberg is considered by many to be the real Dalarna. It was a sleepy town that few knew about, but an 1850 visit from Hans Christian Andersen put an end to all that. He extolled its virtues—tiny flower-strewn cottages, sweet-smelling grass meadows, stunning lake views—to such an extent that Tällberg quickly became a major tourist stop. This tiny village, one of the smallest in the region with only about 200 permanent residents, is packed with crowds in summer.
