St. Maria Kyrka (St. Maria's Church)

St. Maria Kyrka (St. Maria's Church) Review

The low-rise shuttered buildings in the center of Båstad give it an almost French provincial feel. In the main square is St. Maria Kyrka, which looks much more solidly Swedish. Dating from the 15th century, the plain exterior hides a haven of tranquillity within the cool thick walls. The unusual altar painting depicts Christ on the cross with human skulls and bones strewn beneath him.
