Hotel Basel Review

Just off the market square, this modern hotel is steps from all the attractions of the Old Town. It plays an important role in the neighborhood: in the evening its bars and restaurants fill up with an interesting mix of busy business executives, tired travelers, and locals winding down after work. The guest rooms are accented with contemporary leather furniture, shiny chrome, and the odd fern green or burnt orange wall. Polished marble adds luster to the baths.

    Basel Review

The best location in town, especially if your visit coincides with the Fasnacht celebrations. Helpful, friendly staff. Rooms are comfortable, but the air conditioning is marginal - during a heat wave, the air conditioning kept the room just a degree or two cooler than outside.
The Sperber bar is a pleasant spot for a drink - traditional decor, good service. (For something more contemporary, try the Mercedes cafe down the street)
