This crisp, no-nonsense lodging on the Franziskanerplatz attracts a young crowd in search of a bargain. It's a pleasant combination of tidy modern touches (quarry tile, white paint) and antiquities: you can admire the fine old beams in the lobby or in the low, cross-vaulted crypt-like restaurant. Locals come for Swiss specialties like cheese fondue or Fleischvögel (pounded beef steaks wrapped around stuffing in a sausage shape). Two of the rooms overlooking the square's Franciscan church have small balconies.
