Getting Here and Around
From Bellinzona, trains are a 20-30 minute ride. Trains from Bern are frequent. The trip lasts about four hours; trains pass through Luzern and the Gotthard or the newly opened Lötschberg base tunnel and the Centovalli. From Geneva, the fastest and most scenic route passes through Domodossola and the Centovalli on a trip that takes around 4½ hours. The Centovalli is all twists and turns, so if you suffer from motion sickness, you may wish to avoid these routes. The town is best explored on foot; the traffic can be stifling in the summer. Buses run frequently to Ascona, next door.
