Lausanne lies on a major train route between Bern and Geneva, with express trains connecting from Basel and Zürich. From Geneva, trains take about 30 minutes and arrive in Lausanne up to four times an hour; from Bern, they take a little more than an hour and arrive twice an hour. TGVs (high-speed trains) run to and from Paris in about four hours and have 10 schedule options. The Cisalpino train to Milan and to Venice has at least four daily departures, plus connecting service via Brig. From June to September extra trains are scheduled. There is also a Euronuit (night sleeper) connection to Italian cities. The ICE, the German high-speed train, has departures to northern destinations with only one change in Basel or Bern. The SBB provides information on international trains.
