Zunfthaus zur Waag (Scales Guildhall)

Zunfthaus zur Waag (Scales Guildhall) Review

Renaissance in style—note the broad Tuscan columns and decorative strap work on the grand facade—this circa-1637 guildhall was the meeting place for linen weavers and hatmakers. Today it houses a restaurant of the same name, offering Zürich specialties. The main salon is staidly Biedermeier in style, so try to snag a seat in the walnut-lined Zunft-Saal guildhall, lined with stained-glass windows. Even better are the tables right in front of the building, while the adjacent Fraumünster Church is an evocative setting for a drink.
