Cercis Murat Konagi

Cercis Murat Konagi Review

On the waterfront in posh Suadiye, the Istanbul outpost of the famous Cercis Murat Konagi restaurant in Mardin offers an equally remarkable culinary experience. Regularly changing menus draw from southeastern Turkey's rich, multiethnic heritage, featuring dishes from traditional Arab, Kurdish, and Assyrian cuisine that are rarely found in Istanbul restaurants. Come with a big appetite to taste everything from the authentic mezes and grilled meats to desserts like candied tomatoes with salep ice cream; there is also housemade red wine and signature Turkish coffee. Owner Ebru Baybara Demir, who hails from one of Mardin's Arab families, spent years researching her menu and employs an all-female kitchen staff from the region.
