This hotel is easily recognized by the 118-foot-tall palapa that covers its lobby. Despite the rustic roof, the rest of the architecture here is extravagant, with marble pillars, a massive swimming pool, and inner courtyards filled with lush, tropical gardens. There's also a good-size gym here and two indoor tennis courts. The spa is one of the largest in the Zona Hotelera, with 14 indoor treatment rooms and 4 outdoor ones. Activities here include pool volleyball, yoga lessons, and Tai Chi classes, and the atmposphere is more laid-back than at sister resort Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach. Rooms are decent-size, but not all have balconies, and ocean views cost extra. There is a large focus on groups and conventions here, which account for about 40% of guests throughout the year.
