To and from Belize City

You can travel between Belize City and several of the northern cayes, including Caye Chapel, Caye Caulker, and Ambergris Caye, by scheduled water taxi. There are two competing services: Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association, based in the renovated Marine Terminal near the Swing Bridge; and San Pedro Belize Express, which has its ticket office, terminal, and waiting room at the Tourism Village. Both have boats departing every hour or two during daylight hours at similar prices. If taking a cab, be sure to clearly specify which operator you want. Current schedules and prices are on the operators' Web sites. The San Pedro Belize Express has somewhat larger boats, with one holding 100 passengers. There is no scheduled water-taxi service from Belize City to Placencia or other points south, nor to remote cayes.
