Coral House Inn Review

Americans Rick and Darla Mallory renovated this 1938 British colonial-era house and turned it into one of the most pleasant small guesthouses in the country. It overlooks the bay at the end of Main Street, about as far south as you can go on paved roads in Belize. You'll recognize the house by coral-color paint and the vintage red VW van parked in front. The four guest rooms have tile floors, comfortable beds, air-conditioning, cable TV, and wireless high-speed Internet. There's a swimming pool, and the inn offers complimentary bikes. December to April, there's a three-night minimum for reservations for rooms that range from BZ$165 to $180 per night, plus 9% hotel tax. Next door is a historic small cemetery with the graves of three ex-Confederates who move to Toledo after the U.S. Civil War. Owners also manage a nearby private rental home, available for BZ$200-BZ$250 nightly (plus 9% tax), depending on length of stay.

    Home in Belize

I have stayed at Rick and Darla's place a dozen times. If you are road weary and just need a place to hang with no pretentious vibe, no crowd and the friendliest hosts I can even imagine stay at the Coral House!
