  La Mariposa Review

  We stayed here in Mar-2010 and we LOVED it! We had the deluxe ocean view room, and we agree with a previous comment regarding the lack of window screens - it would have been nice to open a window, but, it wasn't an option unless you want local wildlife to enter your room at night. The view from the infinity pool was fabulous. Both our A/C and auto-flush toilet broke, but, they were quick to fix it.
  We did have a problem at check-out, and the front desk clerk did not apologize. We had moved up our arrival time by one day, and our check-out time by one day. When we went to check-out the receptionist told us that we would be charged for one additional night. We assured her that our reservations never exceeded 2 nights, and that there was confusion on their end. At no point did their reservationist confirm receipt of our e-mail or changes, so, we somewhat expected this to happen. Once their reservationist cleared up the mistake, we were told "it's ok". No apology - nothing.

  La Mariposa Review

  We had a deluxe ocean-front room, and the view is out of this world - making our stay worthwhile. The room was spacious and sparkling clean, and a couple of glitches were addressed within minutes.
  However, the hotel is very compact with no walking space at all, and the swimming pools are small. It was a major disappointment to not be able to open any windows or doors - windows don't open and the door has no screen. We love to sleep in fresh air and wake to the sounds outside when we go to a wonderful climate like they have, not in an air-conditioned box. Also, the continuous loud hum of the pool pumps was an annoyance. I was also unpleasantly surprised to find that they still have un-eco-friendly practices like providing little bottles of shampoo etc., and even tho' they have the usual sign about hanging up towels to indicate re-use, housekeeping is not trained in the practice, so they kept changing our towels - sometimes multiple times a day, even when we hung them up carefully.
  The restaurant is overpriced and mediocre.

  Small and Pricey

  I really expected more for the very high price of our room. The view was excellent and really couldn't get much better. Our room was small with a tiny bathroom. Our ceiling leaked every time our upstairs neighbor showered and the staff wasn't too interested in correcting the problem.
  The location was nice and we did see monkeys from our our room but it is a bit far from the beach.
