Barco de los Mariscos Review
For an authentic Heredia experience, head to this antique hacienda in San Rafael de Heredia for lunch or dinner on the veranda, with a view of the town's imposing, cream-color Gothic church. The 100-year-old wooden house, painted sea blue, was actually moved by oxcart years ago from a nearby coffee finca (farmhouse), and now sits in a rose garden on a busy corner of the town. Ceviche and seafood are the main attractions—marinated sea bass with avocado is the most popular dish—along with daily casados (rice, beans, plantains, and salad) and excellent patacones (fried, squashed plantain slices) served with molida, a smooth, refried bean dip.
