Villas Playa Sámara Review
Families come back to this property year after year for good reason: there's lots to do, the villas are spacious and practical, and the beach setting is fabulous. The resort is spread along the picture-perfect southern end of the beach, where the ocean is even more pristine than it is near town, and shallow and safe enough for swimming. The spacious, Spanish-style one-, two-, and three-bedroom villas of white stucco are sprinkled across the property's gardens and wide lawns. They have kitchens and dining areas with daybeds that are perfect for kids (under 12 stay free) and shaded terraces with either a hammock or chairs. Some are a little timeworn and frayed but are slowly being renovated with new bathrooms. Some villas also lack TVs and air-conditioning. Most have ocean views through the palms, but the duplex villas 2A/B and 11A/B are especially close to the beach, and thus cost extra; 17 A/B is a close second. A new two-story building has 16 deluxe rooms, with air-conditioning, private terraces, minibars, microwaves, and coffeemakers but no kitchens. A game room and entertainment center keeps kids busy if it rains, and a new spa and yoga classes will help their moms relax. The restaurant food is not terrific; it's best to cook for yourself or dine in town, a 10-minute walk along the beach. This is the perfect place for serious sports fishermen to park their families while they cruise off in search of the big fish.
