Monteverde Theme Park (Ranario de Monteverde and Frog Pond of Monteverde)
Monteverde Theme Park (Ranario de Monteverde and Frog Pond of Monteverde) Review
Only in Monteverde would visitors groove to the nightlife at an exhibition of 20 species of frogs, toads, and other amphibians. Bilingual biologist-guides take you through a 45-minute tour of the terrariums in the Frog Pond of Monteverde (Ranario de Monteverde), just outside Santa Elena. For the best show, come around dusk and stay well into the evening, when the critters become more active and much more vocal. (Your ticket entitles you to a second visit the same day, as well as a guided tour.) The complex added a butterfly garden with 40 different species in 2011. There's a small cafeteria and a frog-and-toad-and-butterfly theme gift shop.
