This rustic lodge has the best location on the Pacific side of the Osa, with cabins and tents on a ridge overlooking the sea. Private porches are perfect for siestas, sunsets, and stargazing. Toucans and scarlet macaws visit every morning. Paths lead to the coastal trail and deep into the Río Claro National Wildlife Refuge, and a resident guide is on hand. Oceangoing tours include diving and dolphin-watching excursions. The rancho restaurant has a family feel, with communal tables and typical Tico food. There is electricity for only a few hours in the evening and no hot water. Insects frequent the thatched roofs, but so do tiny lizards that eat them up. You can hike here from Drake or take a boat from Drake or Sierpe (included in packages).
