Fodor's Review:

A storybook collection of octagonal cottages in a tropical garden, this hotel has caimans lurking in the nearby mangrove lagoon. The main event here is fishing, both onshore and offshore, and the hotel has fishing packages that also include some nature activities off the water. The recently refurbished cabinas have comfortable king-size beds, wicker furniture, tile floors, hot-water showers, and intricately carved mahogany doors. The attractive alfresco restaurant ($) has a view of fishing boats in the gulf and the distant hills of Piedras Blancas. The short dinner menu changes daily (the fish is excellent) and full breakfasts are served.

Worth the long trip to get there

Posted by jlthomson from California on 4/5/07

Our family of 5 stayed here in Dec. 06 and had a wonderful visit. The staff is so accommodating and the cabin that we stayed in was quite nice. It was large with a full kitchen -- which we didn't use-- a living room, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths. It was simply furnished but quite comfortable. The breakfast buffet was simple but delicious. The dinners featured freshly caught fish and local produce. They took us out fishing one day and that was a great trip! They also hooked us up with a local guide one day and he gave us a first class, all-day nature walk. Very informative, lots of wildlife sightings that we wouldn't have seen on our own. We would definately go back.
