You cannot get more centrally located than the long-time grande dame of San José lodgings. This center-city landmark is a good deal for the money and a first choice of travelers who want to be where the action is, or want an in-house casino. A formal dining room and grand piano just off the lobby evoke the hotel's 1930s heyday. Rooms are large and bright with small windows and tubs in the tiled baths. Even if you don't stay here, the arcaded Café 1930 that fronts the hotel is a pleasant stop for a bite any time of the day or night – it's open 24 hours.
