Fodor's Review:

On a cliff at the tip of Cabo Matapalo, this lodge has unparalleled views of the blue waters of the gulf. The property, with hundreds of acres of animal-rich primary forest, also has the most beautiful landscaping on the peninsula. Deluxe cabins have king-size beds, and all the luxurious thatch-roof cabins have private, outdoor garden showers with hot water. A suspension bridge through the forest links the main lodge with three more rustic cabins set in a tropical garden that is great for bird-watching. Appetizing meals are served in a rancho restaurant overlooking a garden alive with hummingbirds by day and serenaded by a chorus of frogs at night. Solar- and hydro-powered generators provides enough light to read by, and ocean breezes make air-conditioning superfluous. Resident guides are on hand to lead you along forest trails – on foot or along a canopy zip line – and down to the beach with its natural warm tidal whirlpools and river waterfalls. Owners Kim and Phil Spier work hard to make their lodge as environmentally responsible as possible.

Nature Lover's Paradise

BdC has it all. Twice visited in 2.5 years. From the adventurous 45 min ride out to the tip of the Osa, to the spectacular views & abundant wildlife, its one of a kind. Owners live on-site and manage property with an environmentally friendly approach, local staff, active interest in the preservation of the area. Lovely, simply outfitted cabinas, perfect suited for their jungle environment: romanticly rustic. Terrific food, great service, variety of activities. Yes, a bit pricey and YES worth every penny!!!! They take care of you and are taking care of CR, too. We'll return a 3rd time.
