Luna Lodge Review
Perched on a sublime mountaintop overlooking rain forest and ocean, Luna Lodge's ultimate charm is its end-of-the-road remoteness. It's a true yoga retreat, with three large decks made from recycled plastic, perfect for practicing yoga, scanning the horizon for birds or contemplating magnificent sunsets. Just below the largest platform there's an elegant spa and massage hut with ethereal views. Romantic, round bungalows in the garden, spaced apart for privacy, have thatch roofs, garden showers, and decks for relaxing in wood-and-leather rocking chairs. Three deluxe rooms near the main lodge have private baths and share a spacious deck. For real adventure, bed down in one of the lodge's comfortable (and cheaper, at $125 per person) platform tents with private bathrooms. Guided hikes to nearby waterfalls and swimming holes are precipitous and thrilling, and lounging around the pebble-deck pool is pure nirvana. Healthful meals have an imaginative vegetarian focus, tempered with servings of fish and chicken spiced with herbs from a hilltop organic garden. Savory bocas at cocktail time are always delicious. Owner and amiable host Lana Wedmore is committed to sustainability: all the lodge's electricity is provided by a hydro project on the property.
