South Pacific Coast Shopping

Jagua Arts & Crafts

Jagua Arts & Crafts Review

The area's finest arts and crafts are displayed in this impressive shop. Some rare items include colorful cotton dresses and woven Panama hats made by the Guaymí indigenous group. Other interesting items are exquisitely detailed bird carvings made by a family in nearby Rincón; stained-glass mosaic boxes, mirrors, and trivets made by a San José artist; and serious art ceramics. A gallery features mixed-media nature paintings. The shop is famous for local artisan Karen Herrera's exquisite glass-bead jewelry. There's an excellent selection of natural-history field guides and books, and you can also stock up on locally made organic chocolate.
