The Coast

On the other side of a mountain ridge, just a scenic hour-long drive west of San Isidro, you reach the sunny southern Pacific coast, with its miles of beaches for surfing, strolling, kayaking, and snorkeling. Ballena National Marine Park alone encompasses almost 10 km (6 miles) of protected beaches. Scattered along the coast are small communities with increasing numbers of international residents and interesting restaurants and lodging options.
