The so-named "Little Palace" formed part of the original Palacio de los Capitanes Generales complex, and so sits at a prime location just around the corner from the Parque Central. Rooms vary in size, so look at a few before you decide. All contain terra-cotta floors and colonial-style furnishings. The hotel serves a full breakfast on Sunday, but goes continental the other six days of the week. Pro: central location. Con: small rooms.

Avoid this hotel unless: you like rooms with no windows, noisy hotel staff that clean and talk loud in front of your room at 5:30 in the morning, paying $49 a night for a breakfast included to be served coffee and a piece of bread, and especially avoid this hotel if you don't like dealing with people with questionable integrity who are only interested in getting your money. Stay away.
