Bus and Shuttle Travel
Several companies run frequent shuttle buses between Guatemala City and Antigua. Adrenalina, Atitrans, and Turansa are all reputable companies. Call ahead for reservations. Public buses leave every 15 minutes from 18 Calle and 4 Avenida in Zona 1 in Guatemala City. They depart on a similar schedule from the bus station in Antigua.
Adrenalina, Atitrans, and Turansa also offer service to the highlands, with costs ranging from Q100 for Chichicastenango and Panajachel to Q200 for Quetzaltenango. You can also catch a public bus at the terminal, which is cheaper but much less comfortable. There are one or two direct buses to Panajachel and Quetzaltenango each day, as well as five or six bound for Chichicastenango. Tickets cost about Q16.
