Old Acapulco

Old Acapulco, an area that you can easily tour on foot, is where the locals go to dine, enjoy a town festival, run errands, and worship. Also known as El Centro, it's where you'll find the zócalo, the church, and El Fuerte de San Diego. Although a considerably old city, Acapulco retains little in the way of centuries-old buildings. When development took off here in the '40s and '50s, many of the old buildings were razed to make room for resort hotels.
