The correos (post office) is open weekdays 8 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 1; there's also a Western Union office in the building and a courier service. Postal service to and from Mexico is extremely slow. Avoid sending or receiving parcels -- and never send checks or money through the mail. Invariably they are stolen. Your best bet for packages, money, and important letters is to use a courier service such as DHL or Federal Express.

Most hotels offer Internet service but at exorbitant rates. Some go as high as $25 per hour, although many now offer wireless service for those guests with laptops. There are not many Internet cafés in the Zona Hotelera and they tend to be more expensive than the ones in Downtown, so head to El Centro if you need to send more than one e-mail.
