As well as major rental agencies like Avis and Hertz, Cozumel also has several locally run agencies; among them, Aguila Rentals, Fiesta, and CP Rentals. The national and international companies have desks in the airport and San Miguel; most will deliver cars to your hotel. Rates are similar between all the companies. You can often get better deals when making advance reservations; make sure the quoted price includes all taxes and insurance. Some companies charge less if you're willing to pay cash. Cars can be in poor condition with missing window handles, ineffective windshield wipers, and other defects. Be sure to check the vehicle properly before leaving the lot.
