To Rent or Not to Rent?
Driving in Guadalajara isn't for the faint of heart. Sure, Tapatío drivers are tamer than those in Mexico City, but traffic can still be wild. You are taking your life in your hands if you try the bus system. Taxis are cheap and your best bet in the city; if you plan on exploring outlying regions by yourself, renting a car is the best option. You can also hire a driver who specifically does day trips or bargain with a taxi driver.
