Getting Here and Around
If you're flying here, Aeropuerto Internacional Libertador Miguel Hidalgo is 16½ km (10 mi) south of Guadalajara. It's a 30 minute drive to Guadalajara, but the trip can be delayed in either direction by slow-moving caravans of trucks and weekend traffic. A taxi from the airport into the city costs around $20. The seven- to eight-hour bus ride (it takes 5 hours by car) between Guadalajara and Mexico City usually costs $40 and is generally efficient and comfortable. Many lines have large recliners, offer a snack and beverage, and provide free wireless Internet service. Estrella Blanca, ETN, Primera Plus, and Transportes al Pacifico have many daily departures. Toll highway 15D is the safest and quickest route between Mexico City and Guadalajara.
