Laguna Makax Review
Pirates are said to have anchored their ships in this lagoon while waiting to ambush hapless vessels crossing the Spanish Main. Today the lagoon houses a local shipyard and provides a safe harbor for boats during hurricane season. It's off Avenida Rueda Medina, about 2½ km (1½ mi) south of town, two blocks south of the naval base.
