Parasailing costs between $30 and $40 for an eight-minute flight. Most operators won't tell you the stories about broken ropes, so proceed at your own risk. Sailboats and Windsurfers average about $20 per hour.

Bahía Chileno, 16 km [9 mi] west of San José del Cabo, 16 km [9 mi] east of Cabo San Lucas), one of the oldest operators in the area, rents Windsurfers and Sunfish sailboats. Both can be rented by the hour. This is the first shop on Playa Médano when coming from the Cabo San Lucas marina.
Parasails are among the many types of water-sports gear available at JT Water Sports (Playa Médano, Cabo San Lucas. 624/144-4566).
One of Baja's true gems is Cabo Pulmo, the raw, unspoiled national marine preserve along the Sea of Cortez. More than 5 mi of nearly deserted rocky beach border the only living coral-reef system on the Sea of Cortez. Several dive sites reveal hundreds of species of tropical fish, large schools of manta rays, and a sea-lion colony. This is a nearly perfect place for scuba diving and snorkeling.
The village of Cabo Pulmo has 100 or so residents, depending on the season. Power comes from solar panels, and drinking water is trucked in over dirt roads. Near the beach, solar-powered cottages are for rent at the Cabo Pulmo Beach Resort (Cabo Pulmo. 624/141-0244. www.cabopulmo.com), which also has a full-service PADI dive facility. The town has two small general stores and three restaurants. Cabo Pulmo is a magnet for serious divers, kayakers, and windsurfers and remains one of southern Baja's natural treasures.
