The emphasis at this resort is on fun; there's a kids' club to entertain the youngsters while the grown-ups play tennis or relax by the pool. The rate includes most outdoor activities -- a good deal if you want to do more than just work on your tan. The light-filled guest rooms have plenty of space in which to spread out. During the low season, Gala allows nonguests to spend the day or evening on the property -- with unlimited food, drink, and activities -- for a per-person rate of $80 all day. Pros:Nice beachfront, excellent service, good for families. Cons:Not as tranquil as other spots, rooms are nothing special, a bit pricey.
