This large, welcoming, thatch-roof place is open to the breezes of Playa los Muertos and filled with wicker chandeliers, art-glass fixtures, and lazily rotating ceiling fans. The menu meanders among international dishes in modern presentation: roasted stuffed chicken breast, pork loin, or seared yellowfin tuna drizzled in cacao sauce. The seafood enchilada plate is divine. For a pricey but romantic evening, enjoy one of several set menus (265 pesos for two; reserve in advance) at a table right on the sand. This is a popular place for breakfast daily after 8 AM, for a lingering Sunday brunch, or solo guitar or Latin jazz combo nightly between 9 and 11.

Outstanding service and flavorful food. Some may consider La Palapa expensive relative to other local options. The setting on the beach is just great.

My girlfriend and I were thrilled with the creative twists La Palapa put on traditional Mexican dishes. We were served at one of the white linen covered tables on the sand, less than 10 feet from the water. The food was excellent and the wine list wasn't anything to shake a stick at. We look forward to a repeat visit and would recommend to any of our friends.

beautiful setting, though unpredictable. one night you can have a lovely meal with excelent service, the next time you would wonder if you were in the same place.
