La Taquiza

La Taquiza Review

Here's a tip: Stop by this locals den on your way to the airport (it's just across the street), and get food to go. Hertz, National, and other rental-car storefronts surround this bright and shiny hole-in-the-wall. You can order food, drop off your rental car, and then get a shuttle to the airport. Or eat in at the brightly polished green Formica tables (with matching chairs). Included in the filling lunch specials, which change daily, are the tasty lime drink (or barley drink or whatever's freshly made that moment), pinto bean soup, and choice of several main dishes. Most dishes are served in or on old-fashioned red pottery plates, bowls, and mugs. By about 5 pm, after breakfast and lunch specials are served, it's strictly tacos, huaraches (cornmeal patties topped with meats and condiments), and other grilled meat items called antojitos.
