Disabilities & Accessibility in Puerto Vallarta

Disabilities & Accessibility

The best way for people with disabilities to see Puerto Vallarta is to go with a tour company, although these are few and far between. Although Mexicans in general and Puerto Vallartans in particular are courteous and genuinely anxious to help those with mobility problems or other disabilities, accessiblity is extremely limited. Wheelchair ramps are practically nonexistent, and exploring towns and beaches involves uneven streets, multiple stairs, and steep or muddy paths. The Society for Accessible Travel & Hospitality (SATH) has general information about travel for people with disabilities.

Travel Agencies

Varlo y Mar is a Mexican travel agency that addresses the needs of people with physical disabilities. You can also rent the company's van (making your own arrangements for a driver) for trips to nearby Costa Careyes.
