How's the Weather?
The rainy season in this part of Mexico, which runs from late June to September, brings bursts of precipitation every day, but this normally won't interfere with your plans. May to August, the warmest months, are a great time to go hiking in the highlands, though the same doesn't hold true in the canyons, which are often broiling at this time of year.
Overall, the best months to visit are during the fall in September and October, when the weather at the top is starting to cool off the bottom. It's also when the rains of the previous months bring out all the colors of the region's flora.
The middle of winter—December through February—is not the best time to visit the high country. Although the scenery can be breathtaking in the snow, some of the hotels in the region are inadequately prepared for cold weather. However, temperatures on the canyon floors can be ideal for outdoor activities.
