If you can look beyond the plastic flowers, cement bed frames, and vending machines at reception, then this cheerful hotel can be quite a bargin, especially the rooms in the newer wing that have powerful air-conditioning, comfortable beds, and amenities like large TVs, balconies, and telephones. The older (and cheaper) rooms have fans in addition to air-conditioning that can be a bit musty. The pool's surrounded by lounge chairs and shaded by giant trees, and there's a comfortable restaurant and bar at the front of the property. Fans of Frida Kahlo will enjoy the dining area, where paintings of the Mexican artist adorn the walls. This is one of the few downtown hotels that offers a laundromat, parking garage, and security.
