La Mision de Fray Diego Review

This former 1900s convent still retains its colonial charm within the elegant rooms and suites, each with high ceilings, arched doorways, and checkered tile floors. Adding to the theme are tasteful paintings, crucifixes, and statues decorating the rooms; suites have Jacuzzis, domed ceilings, marble pillars and a stairway leading up to the bed. A wraparound balcony overlooks an open-air courtyard, which is filled with lush greenery and a pool that is illuminated at night. Request a room on the third floor, since some of those on the lower floors tend to be somewhat dark. This Mérida gem is located one block from the historic town center.
