Fodor's Review:

Anchorage's only Indian restaurant is housed in a collection of international shops at the Valhalla Center strip mall, flanked by a Korean restaurant on one side and an Asian market on the other. Dinners include such spicy standards as lamb korma, chicken vindaloo, palak paneer (spinach and cheese), and 10 different types of Indian breads -- from tandoori roti to garlic naan. The restaurant is especially popular for weekday lunch, when the big buffet ($10) provides a sampling of Indian favorites, including several vegetarian offerings.

surprizingly quite bad! Yuk!!!

Everything we ordered was in the range from ok to bad to how did they have the nerve to put it on the dinner table. They are serving old food. And what is up with canned fruit cocktail in a pasty white sause with dryed up chicken? Certainly its no chicken masala. Disgusting, and was my $20 dinner from today's lunch buffet or yesterdays or? The whole experience was shameful. It didn't help that the wait staff frequently congraduated himself that there would be no charge for the dish we found the hair in. We were far too polite.

Maybe if you're DYING for Indian food

My experiences at Bombay Deluxe have not been positive, on the four or five times I have stepped in there to dine. To its credit, each time there has been a dish that I enjoyed: a flavorfully prepared and moist Onion Kulcha, or a savory Chicken Curry. These great dishes have never been the same on a subsequent visit, leaving me with the feeling that on each visit I'm playing a game of Culinary Roulette. As well, the wait staff have always seemed to have a struggle to do their jobs well. Not that I blame them; it just seems that their learning how to do their jobs for the first time, all together. All of this, in conjunction with the pricey menu, lead me to feel a sinking feeling of disappointment on every visit. So why am I crazy enough to go back each time? Sometimes, as dismal as this restaurant appears, I still have a craving for Indian food, and I've nowhere else to go.

Great place for lunch. The buffet is quick and tasty. Staff is always friendly. We go at least twice a month for lunch. Great place.
