Frog's Leap

Wineries / Breweries, Rutherford

User Rating: ***** 5.0

Fodor's Review:

Frog's Leap is the perfect place for wine novices to begin their education. The owners, the Williams family, maintain a goofy sense of humor about wine that translates into an entertaining yet informative experience. Why resist a place that dubs one of its wines Leapfrögmilch? They also happen to produce some very fine zinfandel, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and sauvignon blanc. They pride themselves on the sustainability of their operation, and the tour guides can tell you about their organic farming and solar power techniques. The winery includes a red barn built in 1884, an ecofriendly visitor center, and, naturally, a frog pond topped with lily pads.

Time's Fun When Your Having Flys

The best thing I used to like most about Frog's Leap was their wines. Still love them, especially zins. John Williams' zins are just a great representation of what Napa zins should be. I'm am impressed more by John's social commitment to the environment and his community. They also have an incredible WEB site.
