Denver Art Museum: Designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, the new Hamilton Building wing is an architectural work of art itself, but is only one of the many attractions. Visitors are treated to Asian, pre-Columbian, and Spanish Colonial works along with a world-famous collection of Native American pieces.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre: Even if you aren't attending a concert, the awe-inspiring red rocks of this formation-turned-venue are worth a look. There are hiking trails nearby, and the visitor center displays photographs and memorabilia from concerts past.
Denver Botanic Gardens: Brilliant and creatively arranged displays of more than 15,000 plant species from around the world draw garden enthusiasts throughout summer, and in the off-season the tropical conservatory is a warm, welcoming haven. Tea ceremonies and world-renowned musicians add an extra spark.
Larimer Square: Specialty stores, superior people-watching, and some of the city's top restaurants bring tourists and locals alike to one of Denver's liveliest sections. Located on the city's oldest street, it is also home to red brick-lined Writer Square, a charming courtyard area of boutique stores and coffee shops.
LoDo: Lower downtown's appeal lies in its proximity to Coors Field, its navigational ease thanks to the free Mall shuttle, and its plethora of great restaurants, nightclubs, and art galleries. A busy area for shopping and spa-hopping by day, it is the hot spot of choice for the city's hipsters by night.
