Fodor's Review:

Decorated with 18th- and 19th-century antiques, this elegant hotel is a regular stopover for visiting celebrities. The richly paneled Lobby Lounge is a respite for shoppers from nearby Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza; afternoon tea and cocktails are popular. The Dining Room is one of the city's finest restaurants, and many of the area's top chefs have passed through its kitchen doors. The spacious guest rooms are furnished with traditional reproductions. The Club Level, with a separate lounge and concierge, showers you with everything from a bountiful continental breakfast in the morning to chocolates and cordials at night. The large gift shop, called the Boutique, sells everything from linens to luggage.

Service is the best, room maintenance slipping, poor value

Posted by audrocks from Atlanta, Ga on 1/28/07

We stayed in an 18'th floor room on 01/27/07. Priced at $499/nt, these rooms were supposed to be the best short of a suite - an upgrade over regular Club rooms. First the bad: the room was in need of maintenance: paint was chipped on doop edges, the furniture was nice but worn, the A/C unit made a grinding noise when switching off & on and the toilet had a leak requiring the handle be "jiggled" periodically. Secondly the Club Lounge has become somewhat of a cattle call when free food and drinks are served with elbow-to-elbow crowds and kids running around pushing the chairs, etc. Maybe it was only this property: I've not seen this in other Ritz's. The good: service remains as good as or better than ever. Every single member of the staff we encountered went out of their way to greet us (sometimes by name) and ask if there was anything they could do for us. Overall I would rate this Ritz somewhat less that others - it seems to do allot of wedding/convention business. There are those who swear by Ritz Carlton's and will stay nowhere else when looking for a luxury property but I think there are at least equal properties in the Buckhead aread.

Not like 15 years ago

Posted by Kim from Los Angeles, CA on 3/1/06

stayed here back in 1991, and this hotel was spectacular. We just returned 15 years later and it was a lackluster experience. The room was nice, but needed updating (not quite what I would expect for $370+ per night). Service in the lounge was terrible. In short, this is a falling star in Atlanta, The Four Seasons and The Inter-Continental are the big dogs in the city now.

This is a five star hotel?

Posted by Lance from Nashville TN on 11/20/05

Just returned from my three day stay at the Ritz. The lobby is wonderful, but that is about the only thing that makes this hotel unique. The rooms are average, and my bathroom could have been in a hotel of a much lower calibur. Stayed at the BellSouth rate of $189 per day, normally a $400 a night room.
