This sumptuous inn occupies an 1838 mansion that once served as a bordello. Rooms are handsomely furnished, with luxurious linens on canopy beds, antiques and fine reproductions, and a collection of original framed prints from Harper's scattered throughout. On the garden level rooms are small and cozy, with exposed brick walls, beam ceilings, and, in some cases, windows at eye level with the lush courtyard. Most rooms have working gas fireplaces, and three have whirlpool tubs. Afternoon tea and free passes to a nearby health club are included.

A Great Destination for a Weekend Away
Posted by ClaudiaB from Ottawa on 5/2/08
From the minute you enter the Inn you are awed by the atmosphere and the decor. We selected the Inn as our destination for a girls’ weekend get a way. Through our stay we were treated like royalty by the wonderful staff. They took care of all our requests and questions with a warm smile and quick response. High tea was one of the high points of my stay, the homemade blueberry scones served with lemon custard curd was simply delicious. When you visit Savannah this Inn should be top of your list for stay.

Repeat Visit

I have just returned from my fourth visit to the Ballastone, so it should be obvious that I am a very satisfied customer. The service is professional, friendly, and helpful. The food is very good, and I really like the atmosphere, which is warm and welcoming. The Inn is conveniently located in the Historic District. It is all I could ask for to have a lovely, relaxing visit. I am looking forward to my next trip to Savannah.

A worthy extravagance

My recent to visit to Savannah in the heat of August proved charming nonetheless, because of our stay at the Ballastone. I felt completely comfortable, yet pampered. The inn is gracious and luxurious, yet not stuffy.

Special place for a wife's special birthday
Posted by sjelaw from Lincolnwood, Illinois on 1/31/07
My wife and I are not normally B&B people..but this was simply out of this world. My wife likes to say that she would not stay anywhere that is not as nice as our home...this truly met her standards..Her special birthday was made better by the special attention of staff, beautiful surroundings and perfect breakfast..could not have asked for a better experience. we shall be back every year..PS. They arranged a great tour and made dinner reservations at a great restaurant...We adored Savannah because of the Inn.

Ballastone Inn treats you like Royalty:

I had selected the Ballastone from their web site and was pleasantly surprised as sometimes the advertising is deceptive; theirs is not, it is everything they say and more. They could not have been nicer and accomodations were great. I can't wait to go back and stay there again.

What Kind of Wine Goes with Ghosts?
Posted by Leighton from St. Helena CA (Napa Valley) on 6/1/06
While working in Savannah on wine businesss (we are growers and winemakers in Napa Valley) we enjoyed two restful nights at this wonderfully restored, finely maintained and well-staffed charmer. The comfortable bar has a choice wines- by-the glass list. Breakfast is superb too. We stayed in "Rhett's (as in Clark Gable) Retreat". Word has it that ghosts are seen on this floor... but we missed them (I was hoping for Olivia De Havilland)
