Across from the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Ala Moana Boulevard just as it curves toward Waikiki's Kalakaua Avenue, the 12-story Aqua Palms completed a $15 million transformation into a "condotel" in 2005 and now offers luxury studio and one-bedroom suite accommodations. The studios include kitchenettes and the suites feature full kitchens; both have tiled entryways, private lanai, and in-room DVD players. Guests here have signing privileges at restaurants in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, located at the Diamond Head end of the strip.

We stayed here for a week in April, and were very pleased with our jr suite on the 9th floor, which had a nice lanai with views of Diamondhead, the ocean, and DeRussy Park. Staff was attentive and pleasant, too. Used the internet and paid half the rack rate.
