$$-$$$, The Loop
Fodor's Review:
On a quiet block near the Loop, this 45-story pink-granite tower fluctuates between the understated and the opulent, with a huge, glistening chandelier in the foyer and guest rooms bedecked in less-than-brilliant shades of beige. Good thing that it caters to the chatty; there are three telephones per room (including one hanging conspicuously on the bathroom wall). Suites offer stunning views of Lake Michigan and feature dining rooms. Coveted whirlpools are only available in grand suites, which, housed on the top floor also boast fireplaces, libraries, and kitchenettes. Aria, an upscale restaurant within the Fairmont, attracts plenty of locals; it's a global-cuisine gem, featuring American food with Indian, Greek, Asian, and Turkish influences.
