The Federalist

$$$-$$$$, Continental, Beacon Hill

User Rating: *** 2.8

Fodor's Review:

Inside the swanky Fifteen Beacon hotel, the Federalist's modern dining room clearly reflects the attitude around this part of town: refined, civilized, and all about luxury. Chef David Hutton's menu pushes traditional Boston dishes driven by local ingredients; look for pan-seared foie gras with caramelized quince and duck confit. Be warned, though: the food is as rich as the price tag. The wine list, with more than 1,000 entries, including a few century-old bottles, is an impressive but expensive proposition.

Excellent wine list, good service, aloof host, food was average, all overpriced. It was a bit disappointing.
